The recent release of this smart phone from Recent in Motion (RIM) shows improved hardware and software. But more than that, this mobile phone also promises more on the go features mobile smart phone fans wouldn't want to miss.

Style Matters

Just like the original Storm, this new smart phone has the same size of 112.5 mm x 62 mm x 13.9 mm but is definitely 5 grams heavier at its 160 grams weight. Even though this is one of the heaviest phones in the market, it is still easy to carry for it fits the hand nicely. It has an all black glossy finish that gives the phone a classy and sharp look. The purposefully placed rubberized buttons and ports are useful too. It has a function key on the left side which can be used to access shortcuts and a notable 3.5mm headset jack on the right side which is just above the volume rocker.

The 3.25 inch TFT LCD display shows 65,000 colors with high resolution of 480 x 360 pixels.  This mirror-like touch screen makes navigation easier especially now that the call, menu, return and end buttons is integrated to it. Through SurePress, you can actually 'click' on the touch screen. Not only that, you can click two parts of the screen at once for faster typing. The on-screen keyboard also offers multi-tap keypad and full QWERTY keyboard in both landscape and portrait mode.

Some Hardware

The Blackberry Storm 2 runs on a 528 MHz Qualcomm processor with a RAM of 256MB which is slightly better than the original Storm. But for faster mobile processing, the smartphone has an embedded 2GB MultiMedia card (MMC) that can be expanded up to 16GB via MicroSD card. The phone runs on the latest BB operating system 5.0 which gives users a faster mobile experience. The phone supports Quad band GSM, GPRS, EDGE, UMTS, HSPA and CDMA networks.

With theses different supported networks, this smart phone can be used all over the world. It also has Assisted-GPS for better direction support, Wi-Fi 802.11 connectivity for web browsing while on the go and Bluetooth version 2.1+EDR for syncing and document sharing with other devices that support Bluetooth. The Micro USB port is used in charging and PC connectivity as well.

Apps Gallery

The smart phone has an average 3.2 megapixel camera with flash, auto focus and 2x digital zoom. This is perfect for taking pictures and video recording as well. Through the BlackBerry Media Player, users can easily play files in different audio and video formats like MP3, AAC, AAC+, eAAC+, WMA, WMA ProPlus, MPEG4 and WMV. The Microsoft Office application allows users to view and edit personal and business files.

Users can still find the social networking and instant messaging application useful like Google Talk, Yahoo Messenger and the well-loved Facebook. The usual mobile computing and time management applications are also present. And if users would want to add more apps, the App World can surely give them a wide array of applications they can easily download.

This new smart phone is packaged in a nice black box that comes with a micro USB travel charger, USB cable, 3.5mm headphone, and a pouch. Customers can get it for around £460 or £35/month on a 2 year contract with Vodafone.
